Jennifer is a resident of North Smithfield and a life long fitness enthusiast. Jen did competitive gymnastics from a young age through highschool. She transitioned to more typical gym workouts during college.  After having her older children, Jen took up cycling and running, competing in several triathlons, half marathons, and competing in, and winning the Greenway Challenge (team relay race of biking, kayaking, & running) several years in a row.

At the age of 42, Jen discovered CrossFit. A good friend (and current member here at 401) brought her to her first CrossFit class at Red Island CrossFit. She was immediately hooked! It was not long before she signed up for her first competition. After several years, Jen, with a passion for teaching and helping others, got her CrossFIt L1 certification and began coaching. Jen qualified for Wodapolooza, an international CrossFit competition in Miami, for the first time in 2018. After this competition, Jen realized that she wanted to take the competitive side more seriously and transitioned to Ocean State CrossFit in Cranston, where she met Ray Fleser.

Ray quickly became her coach, mentor, and friend. It was Ray who suggested that Jen try competitive weightlifting. The text came one evening, “Hey, I think you could be good at weightlifting, have you ever considered doing a meet?” From there, the rest is history. Jen did her first meet in 2019, winning the meet and earning the honor of best lifter. That started several years of hard work and dedication and culminated with winning the National Championships in April of 2022 and the World Campionships in December of 2022. Jen currently holds all of the world records for the 50-54 age group, 76kg class.

Entrepreneurial in spirit, Jen quickly became passionate about owning her own CrossFit affiliate. Jen shared her dream with Ray and when there was an opportunity to buy a gym in Smithfield in 2021, they seized that moment! Recently the gym transitioned to its new name: CrossFit 401. To own a gym with Ray, is a dream come true for Jen. “I’ve never met a harder, more dedicated coach and worker than Ray.” Together, they bring a lifetime of fitness experience and passion to CrossFit401!

Outside of the gym, Jen is wife to Daryl Jasper, and mom to Alex (22), Jordan, (19), and Mia (10). She works full time as a speech language pathologist at Bernon Heights Elementary School in Woonsocket.
