About Ray.
Co-Owner & Head Coach

“It is an honor and a privilege to bring back the name of the gym I started at, with Jennifer as my partner, and serve my members the best fitness experience in the State of Rhode Island.”

Head Coach Ray Fleser’s entire life has revolved around sports and fitness. After graduating from high school as a varsity football captain, he studied kinesiology at the University of Rhode Island, where he played rugby.

During college, Ray began CrossFit under the guidance of Nate Godfrey, one of his rugby coaches. After two summers of following mainsite workouts on the rugby field, Nate opened one of the first CrossFits in Rhode Island, CrossFit 401, where Ray started his coaching career.

After college, Ray began coaching full time in various gyms, doing everything he could to gain experience. In 2012, Ocean State CrossFit hired him as the Head Coach in Cranston, Rhode Island.

In 2016, he became a co-owner of OSCF.

In 2020, David and Ray partnered with Jennifer Jasper and bought the existing gym, NoRisk CrossFit, in Smithfield, Rhode Island, and rebranded it into Ocean State Crossfit North.

In 2023, after 11 years as the Head Coach in Cranston, Ray and David parted ways. Ray and Jen now own and operate the Smithfield facility, which was rebranded once more, into CrossFit 401, which had closed their doors in 2018!
